Coring & Aerating
Coring is the physical removal of small plugs/cores from the soil and sward of the lawn. This is achieved using a motorised coring machine which punches 3 inch holes into the lawn, removing the plugs and leaving them on the surface of the lawn. Small holes in the surface of the lawn is the result of coring.
What should we do after we aerate?
Once you have punched holes in your lawn it is important to get some nutrients down to the root base of your grass. If you haven’t fertilised for winter yet you could use a slow release fertiliser to give your lawn a feed for the cooler months.
If you have already fertilised you should at least make sure you give your lawn a good drink to take advantage of your aeration work. You could also use something like Seasol or Charlie Carp , both products that are great for giving your lawn a boost.
How can we aerate?
Whether you want to use what you have at home, buy some new toys or hire the big gear; there are several ways to go about a winter lawn aeration. For a detailed breakdown Call James on 0498 074 184 or simply drop us a message on one of our socials or through the site directly
The first thing you should do before you aerate is give your lawn a good water the night before and let your Reticulation come on on your watering day the next morning so it pulls the plugs out more effectively, this will also soften up the soil making the task easier. Then you need to work out how serious you are.
